Welcome retrosounds! Sid & Sonic out NOW

New TST Project single Sid & Sonic is out in all major stores & services! Buy or listen in Beatport, Spotify, Apple Music or other music services of your choice!

The new track is heavily based on retro computer sounds and especially the infamous SID chip of Commodore 64, combined with modern trance atmosphere based on the school-of-trance-reshaped fresh TST Project sound. The result is almost synthwave-like feeling of old analog synths on top of progressive-to-uplifting trance groove that should please all of you retro synth / chiptune sound enthusiasts as well as traditional tranceheads out there.

“Sunny Skies” out now!

My official anthem for the summer “Sunny Skies” is now out in all stores and services worldwide. This is the first tune of the reshaped TST Project sound, the result of the “school of trance” I went through earlier this year.

“Sunny Skies” is a true-to-the-style summer trance anthem telling a story of perfect a summer day by the sea in my home country Finland. Starting from the piano rippling with waves in the morning and going into some games & play in the sun for the day, it ends to the sauna with a lot of throwing water on the stove and using “vihta” (branches of birch used to hit oneself to the back in sauna) and finally going back watching the water glittering in the midnight sun from the terrace.

Go get / listen “Sunny Skies” from Apple Music, iTunes, Beatport, Google Play/Youtube, SoundCloud and many others. Happy summer everyone and be safe!

Back to School!

Kind of strange title for an old guy like me, isn’t it? Well, let me explain a bit…

Over the spring I started to critically evaluate my tracks and sound, especially the ones that weren’t published yet and really started to think where I want to go for my music and whether I’m achieving what I want to achieve with my tracks in terms of sound, style and quality. The more I thought about it, the more clearer it became that I had gone as far as I can go on my own: I had ran out of ideas to develop as a producer and realised I needed some help.

So, I did what an old guy like me does: I ordered a book to learn some new tricks. I also tried not to be SO old and did what the younger generation does: watched some great tutorial videos about all kinds of stuff in the internet. I also spent hours in my home studio just testing stuff, looking for sounds and trying to find the things I like and want to do in my tracks.

This self-made production course was very enlightening. While I realised that I do know quite a bit of stuff already, the big thing to notice was that I wasn’t implementing many things properly or paying attention to many details that are essential for quality production work. And of course, there was still a huge amount of things that I did not know or had thought of at all that I’ve now learned.

This “production school” stuff will be continuing for me, I will read more, watch more tutorials and am eager to learn new things but while I’m still on it, I’m thrilled to publish some new music for you very soon, the first results of my lessons in the school of trance 🙂
