Kind of strange title for an old guy like me, isn’t it? Well, let me explain a bit…
Over the spring I started to critically evaluate my tracks and sound, especially the ones that weren’t published yet and really started to think where I want to go for my music and whether I’m achieving what I want to achieve with my tracks in terms of sound, style and quality. The more I thought about it, the more clearer it became that I had gone as far as I can go on my own: I had ran out of ideas to develop as a producer and realised I needed some help.
So, I did what an old guy like me does: I ordered a book to learn some new tricks. I also tried not to be SO old and did what the younger generation does: watched some great tutorial videos about all kinds of stuff in the internet. I also spent hours in my home studio just testing stuff, looking for sounds and trying to find the things I like and want to do in my tracks.
This self-made production course was very enlightening. While I realised that I do know quite a bit of stuff already, the big thing to notice was that I wasn’t implementing many things properly or paying attention to many details that are essential for quality production work. And of course, there was still a huge amount of things that I did not know or had thought of at all that I’ve now learned.
This “production school” stuff will be continuing for me, I will read more, watch more tutorials and am eager to learn new things but while I’m still on it, I’m thrilled to publish some new music for you very soon, the first results of my lessons in the school of trance 🙂
